2002년 4월, BBC에서 시청자들에게 죽기전에 꼭 가봐야 할 장소에 대해 설문조사를 했고, 그 결과가 오늘날 우리가 알고 있는 'BBC에서 선정한 죽기전에 가봐야 할 50곳'이었던 것이다.

2004년을 끝으로 지금은 그 원본페이지가 없어진 상태지만^[각주:1] 다행히도 http://www.archive.org/를 통해 그 흔적을 볼 수 있었다.
